Port was created as a part of the EU funded project Palcom. Our task was to create a physical device to support patients in the hand rehabilitation clinic on Malmö University Hospital, to help them share photos and videos with each other through their mobile phones/PDAs. An important part of the task was to make the process of sharing visible and make the device’s physical shape communicate this.
The result was Port, a unit which consisted of two docking stations and a touchscreen-display. The users placed their mobile-phones/PDA’s in the holders och the device showcased their files on the display. They could then drag the files, with the help of their hand, to each other in simple intuitive way.
